Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation, is a non-invasive treatment that uses red or near-infrared light to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and improve various skin and health conditions. Here is an overview of red light therapy:

Red light therapy works by stimulating the mitochondria in cells, which are responsible for producing energy (adenosine triphosphate or ATP). This process can enhance cellular metabolism, increase circulation, and promote tissue repair and regeneration.

Benefits for Skin Health: Red light therapy can improve skin tone and texture, reduce inflammation, promote collagen production, and accelerate wound healing. It is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, scars, and sun damage.

Pain Relief: Red light therapy has analgesic (pain-relieving) effects and can help reduce inflammation and discomfort associated with various conditions such as arthritis, muscle soreness, and joint pain.

Muscle Recovery: Athletes and fitness enthusiasts often use red light therapy to speed up muscle recovery, reduce muscle fatigue, and improve performance after intense workouts or injuries.

Dr. Julie Nelson Dr. TCM, R.Ac. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a natural system that works with the body’s energy “QI” to bring it into balance. Physical trauma, emotional trauma, stress and lifestyle are just some of the factors that can injure or damage the body’s energy.

My goal first and foremost is to understand the cause of your illness and then provide a gentle, effective treatment in a safe, healing space.

My understanding of energy and how it gets stored in the body started when I began practising healing touch. I am able to detect Qi aberrations. This practice of hands on healing lead me to Traditional Chinese Medicine where I learned to incorporate needling, Gua Sha, Cupping, Electrical Stimulation and Chinese Herbs into my healing practices.

Located in Kitsilano, I specialize in musculoskeletal pain, women’s health, cometic & facial acupuncture, mental and emotional trauma
